With the league already wrapped up, Kilmarnock Under 18s were looking forward to finishing off a tremendous season at home to Cambuslang, unfortunately the weather had other ideas, with the freezing temperatures making the pitch unplayable. So, instead of donning their Killie strips, the boys’ arrived in festive attire (Christmas jumpers) and watched the Glasgow game as a team, before celebrating while huddled around the BBQ to get a heat waiting for their burgers.
This has been a tremendous season for the 18s, who have at times, played some outstanding rugby, finishing the season unbeaten in all competitive matches, the single loss resulting in a forfeit due to lack of numbers available to travel to Oban. In this our 150th Year, it is perhaps fitting that today’s ‘youth’ are the team to start off the celebrations, and we wish our Senior Teams the same success in their remaining matches.
Next up for the Under 18’s is a return to Cup action in January, where the boys are looking forward to pitting their skills against Allan Glens at home on the 20th, followed by games against Dumfries, Biggar Colts and our friends at Ardrossan.
On behalf of all at Kilmarnock Under 18s, I would like to thank our opponents Ardrossan, Newton Stewart/Wigtonshire, Cambuslang, Bishopton, Oban Lorne and of course all at Stewartry for a well fought season. A huge thank you also to our family and friends for your unwavering support and to our Club and Committee for their continued backing.
Look forward to seeing you supporting the Newly Crowned League Champions in the New Year, and we wish you and your families a happy and joyful festive season.
All at Kilmanrock Under 18s
