Match report for the U16s
Garnock 12 - Kilmarnock 14
A win on the road for Kilmarnock in their quarter final, we await to see who we get in the semi finals.
Garnock played a forward game today, trying to use their bulk by continually rucking for a few phases before trying to then put the ball wide but the Killie defence stood solid and prevented Garnock from scoring in the first half whilst Killie scored two with Ross running in two excellent tries ably converted by Sean.
In the second half Garnock crept back into the game, the decision making by Killie didn’t help by trying to play Garnock at their own game and keep the ball in the forwards instead of letting the speedy backs run - the backs certainly had the better of their opponents but were starved of the ball but the forwards certainly put a shift in today - Logan and Ethan certainly will be tired after today’s huge performance.
Well done to all today, MoTM has to go to someone though and for his two tries Ross just shaded it.
And DoTD goes to the one who was yellow carded.
Thanks to all who turned out today, a big squad means it’s hard to get game time for all, apologies to those who got limited time, and thanks to all the parents for their support.
Next up is a home friendly against Stirling next Sunday.
