Are you looking for an opportunity to work towards a career in sport and earn while you learn? Then this may be the role for you!!

Kilmarnock Rugby Football Club require a Modern Apprentice for SVQ Level 3 Youth work during Sessions 2024/25

The vacancy is appropriate to anyone over the age of 16 but under 20, so would ideally suit an 18 or 19-year-old who is interested in a career in community sport

The successful applicant will work alongside our Development Officer to assist him in providing appropriate levels of training and support within Kilmarnock Rugby Football Club, local schools and our associated Schools of Rugby. This might include; lunch time/after school clubs, evening clubs, weekend teams, holiday activities, one to one support activities, D of E, Young Ambassador, Scouts/Guides etc.

The candidate must:-

  • Candidates must have finished their secondary education
  • Candidates can be current/incumbent staff or new start staff who will be under 20 years of age at the start of this program
  • Candidates can not be at College or University during their Modern Apprentice year
  • Candidates will complete a Modern Apprentice SVQ qualification in 12 months.
  • A working week will be min 20 - 25 hrs of timetabled employment but could include up to an additional 10 hours of Coaching
  • Candidate will work towards the SVQ L3 in Youth Work with the Sports Academy of Scotland.
  • Candidates must have the ability to complete employer selected CPD in business specific areas which might include subjects such as; safeguarding children, first aid, equality and diversity training, sports coaching, mentoring practice etc. All additional training will be paid for by KRFC
  • Candidates should be computer literate and have regular access to a computer for our on-line portfolio development platform and a smart phone for catch up calls and reflections.
  • Candidates will currently have achieved or have the ability to achieve the 2 SQA Core Skills at (SCQF L5) Intermediate 2 in Numeracy and Computing (ICT) which will be delivered and assessed by the Sports Academy of Scotland
  • A driving licence would be beneficial but not essential;
